Mom and Dad – At Your Home For the Holidays

Monday, October 29th, 2012

Over the past year, it may have been decided that it was best to have one or both of your parents come live in your home with you and your family. Now the holidays are approaching, you could find yourself overwhelmed when you realize that there are many changes in how you did things before. Changes that are needed for everyone to be comfortable and happy, and, if you still have children at home, keeping things as normal as possible for them.

First of all, don’t be afraid or embarrassed to ask for help. Caring for elderly parents can be challenging just on daily basis. With the holidays, especially if the event is traditionally at your home, it can be overwhelming. Do not try to do it all on your own! Incorporate the help of other family members, friend and even a neighbor.

Getting a sibling to take mom or dad out for a day to give you some time alone in your home can do so much for you! This can allow you time to pull the decorations down from the attic or do your grocery shopping for the holiday baking and cooking.

You may want to consider using the services of a company such as Oxford Healthcare. Hiring a nurse to help with certain tasks on a regular basis or just through the hectic holiday months can take a load off your mind and shoulders!

Oxford Healthcare. Caring for you at home. Keeping families together.
