Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Provides personal care services, housekeeping services, and other designated services primarily in the homes of Oxford HealthCare clients under the direction/supervision of licensed personnel.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provides personal care services and assists in activities of daily living including, but not limited to, personal hygiene, eating, dressing, elimination, exercise and ambulation.
- Promotes client’s plan of care by performing other health related services such as monitoring vital signs and skin condition, reminding and assisting with prescribed medications, assisting with home exercise program, and maintaining equipment and rooms used by client.
- Observes, records, and reports reaction to treatment and/or any changes in client’s condition to the appropriate personnel.
- Performs general household duties, essential to health care at home including, but not limited to disposal of infectious waste, cleaning soiled linen, simple meal preparation, and light housekeeping.
- Provides companionship, socialization and diversional activities for client.
- Provides emotional support for client and family.
- Provides transportation and shopping as needed.
- Prepares and submits timely written documentation as required by policy.
- Participates in inservice education programs, quality assessment activities, case conference, and other staff meetings as required.
- Has access to reliable transportation as required.
OTHER FUNCTIONS
Performs other related duties as directed by supervisor.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
Reports to the HealthCare Supervisor or the Nursing Supervisor.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education/Licensure: Current certification as HHA in Oklahoma.
Experience: Minimum six (6) months working as a nurse aide in a hospital, nursing home or home care setting, or current enrollment as an RN or LPN student with six (6) months of clinical experience.
Skills/Abilities: Ability to follow directions and perform duties with minimal supervision. Ability to deal effectively and courteously with clients, families, and co-workers, and exhibit an empathetic attitude toward the sick and elderly.
Physical Requirements/Environmental Factors: Position performed without physical assistance from another caregiver. Requires ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull up to 50 pounds frequently and may require push or pull in excess of 100 pounds. Adequate vision and manual dexterity so that performance of tasks will not pose a threat to the health and safety of client or others.
Home conditions vary. Employee may be required to adapt to conditions including, but not limited to, temperatures in excess of 80 degrees F. and below 55 degrees F., humidity, working around client’s family or pets, cigarette smoke, dust, or infectious diseases.
